The Girl Scouts Annual Report Reveals Challenges Facing Girls

US young ladies have a tough road towards adulthood.

The 26-million girls living in the United States are facing challenges. A new report from the Girl Scouts of America says economic conditions caused by the Great Recession continue to affect girls. That's resulted in increases in emotional and physical distress, obesity, marijuana use and low self-esteem. The great news is, more female students are graduating from high school!

Among individual states, the Girl Scouts of America says that girls are thriving the most in New Hampshire and are struggling the most in Mississippi.
