Despite stiff competition for the likes of The Who’s Keith Moon and Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham, Esquire magazine has named Cream drummer Ginger Baker the craziest drummer in rock history.
Esquire says of Baker: “He introduced a level of complexity and fearless experimentation to the form that he more than matched offstage. The only addiction he’s had that’s cost more than drugs is raising ponies.”
In addition to Moon and Bonham, the list also includes The Clash's Topper Headon, Motley Crue's Tommy Lee, Bill Ward from Black Sabbath, and Lars Ulrich from Metallica.
Also making the top 10 are Josh Freese, Terry Bozzio and Vinnie Paul.
