Not all Best Picture winners are created equal.  And sometimes, the Academy's pick doesn't align with OUR tastes.

With that in mind, the Huffington Post website put together a list of the 12 "Worst Best Picture Winners . . . based on user ratings from the Internet Movie Database.  (IMDB.com)

The lowest-rated Best Picture winner is "Cimarron", which won in 1931.  It has a user rating of 6 out of 10.

But this points out the list's major flaw:  The Top 8 movies on the list are from 1963 or earlier.  Three of them are from the 1930s . . . and one is from the '20s.

Two more are from the early to mid-'80s . . . and only ONE came out in this millennium.

That would be "Chicago", which won Best Picture in 2002, and has an IMDB user rating of 7.1

What that shows you is that people who use websites like IMDB tend to be YOUNGER.

So the older a movie is, unless it's a bona fide CLASSIC like "Casablanca" . . . the lower its user rating will probably be, simply because it's fallen out of fashion, and / or it's simply too old to be relatable to people anymore.

Flawed or not, here's the list:

#1.)  "Cimarron",  1931,  6

#2.)  "Cavalcade",  1933,  6.2

#3.)  "The Broadway Melody",  1929,  6

#4.)  "The Greatest Show on Earth",  1952,  6.7 . . . It starred Charlton Heston.

#5.)  "Around the World in 80 Days",  1956,  6.8 . . . This version of the classic Jules Verne novel starred Shirley MacLaine and David Niven.

#6.)  (tie)  "Gigi",  1958,  6.9

#6.)  (tie)  "The Great Ziegfeld",  1936,  6.9

#6.)  (tie)  "Tom Jones",  1963,  6.9
